The wide rim on this medium-sized decorative bowl displays the exquisite grain of river birch which continues into the cup-shaped bowl.  River birch naturally darkens as the wood dries, and this bowl is finished only in a clear natural tung oil.  The drying process also left a subtle waviness to the rim, adding additional character.
