This oak bowl really shows off the natural features of wood just before decay sets in.  Fungal spalting left dark streaks near the rim, small beetles left bore holes, and drying left a cracked knot hole.  Still, the wood is strong and stable.  It has a natural Tung Oil finish, so it can be used confidently to serve dry items or just become an intriguing decorative conversation piece.
