Swirling patterns of heartwood, sapwood and spalting are all on full display in this extra large, shallow bowl crafted from honey locust.  It is a true marvel of nature.  The bowl measures almost 14 inches in diameter.  It has an ogee shaped exterior, and the interior slopes inward from the rim with a decorative groove to a slightly concave, wide bottom.  Food grade finishing materials make the bowl suitable for service; however, you might find this bowl is just too intriguing to take off of display.
